Hinds LifeCare Gala: Light Work, Big Impact

October 9, 2026

On Monday, August 31, Hinds LifeCare was honored to co-host International Overdose Awareness Day alongside the Zachary Horton Foundation. This day is a time to honor the lives lost to overdose, support the families and friends left behind, and bring attention to the impact substance use continues to have on our community. At Hinds LifeCare, we see firsthand the grief that can follow an overdose loss. Through our HALO (Healing After Loss by Overdose) program, we offer a safe and supportive space for those who have experienced this loss to come together, share their stories, and find hope through healing.

Thank you to California Health Sciences University for graciously allowing us to use their facility, the student doctors from the university’s Overdose Prevention Committee for assisting at the event, the Zachary Horton Foundation, our HALO members, Hinds LifeCare staff, and everyone who joined us in remembrance and support. Your presence was a powerful reminder that while grief can feel isolating, no one has to walk this journey alone.
